Neo-Geo Wii Virtual Console Wishlist

When SNK Playmore USA President Ben Herman announced that Neo Geo titles will be available “sometime this summer” (of 2007), you bet I was as excited as a young boy could be! Hmm, yes and I’m pushing thirty. The sucky thing is IT DIDN’T HAPPEN!!! Fall is here and still no Neo Geo in North America. Ben Herman has my nuts in a vice grip.

Neo Geo no doubt has some great fighters but what I’m really excited about is the action and sports games. Here are the games I’m drooling over:

  • Super Dodge Ball - hilarious and super fun
  • Samurai Shodown II - this is my favorite one on one fighting title from SNK
  • Super Sidekicks 3 - another really fun title

Top Nintendo Comedy: Half Assed Theatre

As much as I love Angry Nintendo Nerd there is only one YouTube video blogger that makes me laugh more about classic video games: UrinatingTree. He puts on the most hilarious voices and much of it seems improvised, making it even funnier and more impressive.

The funniest UrinatingTree videos to date are the reviews of (in order of quality, dictated by my personal tastes):

  1. Hook (Sega Genesis)
  2. Heroes of The Lance (NES)
  3. Snake’s Revenge (NES)

It was tough choosing from Hook and Heroes of The Lance. Both had me chuckling big time. Don’t miss these awesome videos on YouTube! Bahh… yeah well here’s the videos right here on the blog!

Hook (Sega Genesis)

Heroes of The Lance (NES)

Snake’s Revenge (NES)

Angry Nintendo Nerd Rules OK?

If you haven’t watched James the Angry Nintendo Nerd on YouTube, you haven’t lived LIVED my friends. He’s hilarious, he swears and he drinks Rolling Rock. He’s even inspired a legion of classic gaming wannabes that do video blogs. Yeah I’m one of those wannabes (well, sort of).

If you grew up playing NES, chances are you have played the ultra-crappy title Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Yes, it sucks! And no, it hasn’t aged well. Check out this funny review and grab yourself a beer!

Death by Ninja Gaiden and Speed Run Video

Have fun watching some madman do a speed run of NG. I can’t even fathom the skill involved here folks.

Game over! Again!!! Holy Moses is this game hard. I’ve gotten mad. I’ve laughed at my buddies when they fell in a deep chasm… you name it. You literally have to be ninja of the thumbs to do well at this game. Somehow my friends and I kept playing it over and over and laughing at the odd enemies that never seem to go together like hawks? falcons? black boxer dudes, army type dudes with rocket launchers etc. etc… the list goes on. Enemies will magically re-spawn or vanish if you are at the right part of the screen. It’s ninja magic!

Be sure to download this for the VC and be prepared to DIE!!!

Back to Classic Gaming

Howdy there! I grew up playing NES and then Sega Genesis. I have some many great memories associated with those game systems. When I got a Nintendo Wii, I was thrilled by the selection of great games for the Virtual Console. I got hooked on classics like Ninja Gaiden for NES, Shining Force for Genesis and more recent titles I never had a chance to play in my youth such as Paper Mario for N64.

Virtual console and classic gaming is indeed supreme. While I remember playing my fair share of crap games growing up, many of the classics have a special vibe that many new titles are lacking. Mojo! Until next time, my fellow classic gamers.
